Tracii Thomson - Shodan (1st degree Black Belt)

Tracii started shotokan karate after a year of watching her son train. With the continual thought of 'I'd like to join in, but at my age ... ...' plaguing her for many months, Tracii found a small KUGB club well away from her son, and began training.

Unable to attend the first club grading, Tracii was encouraged by her friend Sensei Thomson, to train at the KUGB Summer Course at Lancaster University with him. Feeling confident after an inspirational training session with Sensei Frank Brennan, Tracii decided to grade and hasn't stopped since!

Tracii Thomson & Sensei Osaka - Congratulations on Shodan Pass

After attaining 5th kyu and after much discussion, Tracii and Sensei Thomson decided to collaborate their skills and knowledge and start their own club under the JKA England. As well as being co-founder, Tracii is Ataru SKC's Club Manager and also an Instructor.

Tracii Thomson

Five years to the month, Tracii graded Shodan at the JKA England 2006 Spring Course in Guildford under Osaka Sensei, Technical Director of the JKA.

A big thanks to everyone who has guided and supported her through the years of hard work & dedication, including Sensei Thomson (Tracii's primary instructor & husband), Sensei Adel Ismail, Sensei Peter Welsh, Sensei Tom Peebles and Sensei Wayne Maliszewski.
