Karate for children, adults and families

Children’s beginner classes

The first session gives younger students a structured introduction to karate. Training helps children develop basic techniques, coordination, balance, concentration, self-control and respectful dojo etiquette.

Teenagers and adult beginners

Adults and teenagers do not need previous experience, exceptional flexibility or a particular fitness level. Instructors introduce kihon, kata, controlled partner work and practical applications progressively so new students can build capability with confidence.

Higher grades and returning students

Experienced karateka and people returning after time away are welcome. Contact us before attending if you are transferring from another club or association, and an instructor will advise which session is most appropriate.

Arranging your trial lesson

Please contact us before coming to your first session. We will confirm the right class, explain what to expect and answer any questions about joining.

  • Wear comfortable sports clothing; you do not need a karate uniform for your trial.
  • Bring a drink and arrive approximately ten minutes early.
  • Tell the instructor about relevant injuries, medical conditions or accessibility needs.
  • Beginners are introduced to controlled partner exercises gradually.
